Apple abandoned Bertrand Serlet, a senior expert who has been included key figures in the development of the Mac OS platform. Serlet has worked at Apple for 22 years and last served as Senior Vice President of Mac Software Engineering.
Serlet joined Apple in 1997 and directly involved in the birth of the Mac, from defining the concept, development, manufacture up to Mac OS X. So inappropriate for him called one person who gave birth to a Mac or even the father of the Mac.
He is a doctoral degree in Computer Science from the University of Orsay, France. Before entering Apple, Serlet has experience working at Xerox PARC for four years and then in 1989 moved to NeXT, the computer company Steve Jobs founded. This is where he first met the CEO of Apple now.
"I've worked with Steve for 22 years and has experienced the most amazing product development both at NeXT and Apple, but to the point now, I want to reduce the focus of attention on products and spend more on science," said Serlet explain the reason as reported by Apple Insider website, on Wednesday (03/23/2011).
Furthermore, the position he left behind will be filled Craig Federighi who is currently vice president of Mac Software Engineering. Federighi will hold the same responsibility with previous Serlet and directly under Steve Jobs. Over the last two years, he is responsible for developing and managing Mac OS X Mac developer engineer group.
Federighi sebekumnya also worked at NeXT prior to Apple. However, he had moved to ARIBA for 10 years before re-joining Apple in 2009 to lead the team of Mac OS. He is a graduate of Computer Science University of California, Berkeley.
"Craig has done a terrific job in managing the team of Mac OS for two years. Lion is one of the best results and this transition will be seamless," said Serlet colleague commented that would replace it.
